we LOVE Story of the World!

We really love this history series in our family! First, its very engaging, even for "history haters." My oldest son is a very technical, math minded child and really dislikes stories, history, etc. Thankfully the story was engaging enough to keep his interest, as long as he was the one doing the actual reading. I think the age level of K-3 could easily be extended to any grade level, having high schoolers and possibly middle schoolers add additional resource books to did deeper.
I also very much like the content of these books. As a young earth Christian, I don't feel like these books preach the common secular view of evolution. At the same time, I don't think that it preaches creation either so it would be a good curriculum for use in families with basically any belief systems.

I would not even consider the activity book to be optional. It is absolutely PACKED and a critical part of our learning process with this curriculum. It contains review questions, which give you an idea if your child is comprehending the stories well, and map work, which really SHOW the child things that don't necessarily get comprehended well without actually "seeing" them. There's coloring pages, which i use for my children like to draw. I also use them for my toddler, so he can do something and hopefully not interrupt us while we read. My kindergarten child also really enjoys the coloring pages. The cost of the activity book is WELL worth it!
