Honestly, spelling curricula is still the area which we struggle with the most to find good, consistent, not mind-numbing resources. We think Spelling Workout provides consistent, structured, but varied and beneficial daily activities to work with each weekly list. There are periodic reviews to keep spelling rules and troublesome words in front of the student. Typically there are five activities per lesson which include analogies, proofreading skills, dictionary use, crosswords, word recognition, scrambled word puzzles, etc. There are 36 lessons in each book and those lessons each focus on a part, spelling rule or phonetic pattern (all ai, ay and oi, oy or plural possessives, for example). Older student books include a small dictionary in the back, and from Book C on cursive writing is encouraged and used in the word lists. Workbooks are consumable, and teacher's editions are available for each level. (The teacher's editions give some lesson plan ideas and definitely speeds up the grading process.)
