The Handwriting without Tears chalkboard is made of real slate, measuring 4" x 6", in a sturdy wood frame. The smiley face at the top left corner orients children and reinforces top to bottom, left to right directionality.

- The slate provides a frame of reference so that children write capitals and numbers in a consistent size and without reversals.
